Norma Jeane Baker aka Marilyn Monroe| June 1, 1926 – August 5, 1962

I’ve never fooled anyone. I’ve let people fool themselves. They didn’t bother to find out who and what I was. Instead they would invent a character for me. I wouldn’t argue with them. They were obviously loving somebody I wasn’t.
Happy Birthday Marilyn!

There is a moment in “The Philadelphia Story” that was, according to Cary Grant and Jimmy Stewart, improvised. It’s the scene when Jimmy Stewart comes to Cary Grant’s house and he’s drunk. And Jimmy Stewart hiccups; that was thrown in. You can see that Jimmy’s amused and Cary looks down and he was amused that Jimmy was amused. They almost broke up!

SIMONE DE OLIVEIRA, DESFOLHADA | 1969

I feel like sharing a gem of portuguese music from the sixties. it’s simply a chilling performance, a song that exalts the performer’s love for our land, comparing it to the conception of a child. Simone de Oliveira has a powerful, sort of scratchy voice that is very distinct. she presses on the “r’s” more than we do normally, playing with words and sounds to the full potential of the portuguese language. this, when combined with a defying poise, creates an impressive act.
